Eun Jean • Momofuku

Restauranteur, Miss Toklas Co-Founder

I met Eun Jean at a Superbowl party hosted by her and her fiancé a couple of years back. She'd probably laugh if she knew how nervous I was while sitting with their ESPN and Complex editor friends, how silly I felt while commenting on Miss Info's nails, (without realizing that it was Miss Info), and how hard I tried to get one Eun Jean's famous chicken wings. Which is when someone told me that she ran things at Momofuku. Which wasn't surprising if you would've seen the reaction people had to those chicken wings. The night ended with a Giants win and karaoke.

Eun Jean's been in New York for 12 years. She's been running operations at Momofuku for six of them. She refers to David Chang as Dave. Not only does she have advice for anyone looking to go into the restaurant business, but she's started a new group called Toklas Society for Women in Food & Hospitality with the goal to create a place where women in her industry can meet and learn from each other. Read her story and if you're ever at Milk Bar, get the cake truffles, they're her favorite. —Sarah Kim
